Dear Sriman Chinna Krishna Das,

Please accept my humble dandavat pranamas.

I apologize for being so late with my reply to your last email. I hope you will find my response to be “better late than never.” I try my best to answer all my correspondence. Unfortunately I am not always able to do so in a timely manner. Your email directs us to some points of great interest. As a result, I shall attempt to address them below.

I am very thankful to you for this very beautiful response to my letter.

It is very kind of you to say.

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Politics, parties, work, devotion.”

Dear Sriman Jagadananda dasa,

I do have one quick question. Yesterday I noticed Rep. Tulsi Gabbard has announced that she will be going after the presidency in 2020. As I’m sure your Divine Grace is aware, she is a devotee. What are your thoughts on this?

I was not aware she is a devotee. Who is her guru?

I noted when we were preaching in South India, that whenever any gentleman who was a renowned devotee in a particular place approached our guru maharaja, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura Prabhupada, he used to ask such men, “Under whose guidance does your devotional service to Krsna go on?” Generally they used to say, “No, no, I am directly concerned with Lord Krsna, and Lord Rama.” Then, when they went Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – Preaching in the Red Light District… a disquisition on the Facebook environment.”

Facebook: A Macro Red Light District

On 1/24/19, disgusted by what I see posted by “devotees” on Facebook, which somehow appears in our “Timeline” and gets embedded in other places on our Fb pages, I wrote this to Sriman Gokulananda, hoping he could eliminate some of the grotesque clutter:

If it weren’t for the links to our website I think I might completely remove our presence from this red-light district [Facebook] comprised mostly of whore houses which profit from the seduction of those with both material and spiritual aspirations.

Unfortunately, much of this trash seems to be forced upon us by the Facebook business model which is either too difficult or too time consuming for us to battle to a win, considering our limited manpower and resources.

As a result — for the time Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Please forgive my offenses and accept my apologies.”

Dear devotees, friends and readers,

I recently noticed some very troubling images on our Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math Global Facebook page.

We use WordPress to produce our website (scsmathglobal.com) and have been using a feature it provides to automatically update our Facebook page with new posts made to the website.

The troubling images I refer to above were apparently cropped automatically (either by WordPress or Facebook) to fit some predetermined size or format. As a result I noticed some photos of our gurus appeared on our Fb site cropped in such a way that their heads were not visible.

As I am ultimately responsible for this, I offer my most sincere prayer to Srila Govinda Maharaja and Srila Sridhara Maharaja to please excuse my offenses. If the images of any other Vaishnavas appeared Read More...

The Process for Carrying Out Srila Prabhupada’s Desires for Future Initiations.

Note

The paper presented below was prepared by ISKCON’s GBC after Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance and sent to all ISKCON temple presidents in 1978. I read the paper carefully at that time and was astonished to see that my Godbrothers apparently had so much knowledge of the matters presented therein. I remained puzzled, however, at how they had gained such insight and by the phrase “in consultation with higher authorities.” Who were these “higher authorities”? Years later I leaned “they” were Srila Sridhara Maharaja; the one from whom the GBC, at Srila Prabhupada’s direction, sought advice on the most crucial matters that would affect his disciples after his disappearance.

What follows below is an excerpt from a class on Bhagavad-gita chapter 9, verse 34. It was delivered by His Divine Grace Srila Bhativedanta Swami Prabhupada on August 3, 1976 at his New Mayapura farm in France.

The following twenty-one topics were covered in their entirety in the short span of twenty-seven minutes.

Material happiness v. real happiness, love of Krishna v. mundane love, the “process” of Krishna consciousness, fall down, factory work, Krishna maintains His devotees, personal endeavor, no service is beyond your means, doing business, how to become free from material desires, “Does Krishna punish the impure?”, you cannot violate ‘nature’s law’, scientists’ endeavor=foolishness-rascaldom, one Read More...

Dear friends,

Please accept my humble dandavat pranamas.

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Or, does coincidence play a larger role in our lives than we might expect?

Following up on a Facebook notification I read Srimati Kundalata Devi dasi’s Fb post of “extracts” of two transcripts on Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance day. We posted the same transcripts. I wrote the following intro to our website post which was emailed to Prabhu Uddharan to post on our website on November 10, 2018 at 4:06 PM, two hours before Kundalata Devi’s post:

Srila Giri Maharaja – “My Interest/Disinterest”

Date: 11/3/18

Dear Sriman Nila Madhava dasa,

Please accept my blessings and well wishes.

I have received your last two emails and noted the contents.

Overall your questions that bore the appearance of sincerity interested me until you muddied the waters by proclaiming they are, in some sense, rhetorical (“In one sense my question to you was rhetorical.”). On the other hand, your “thoughts” (Thoughts on “The “Guruless Disciple”), opinions and manipulative tactics (“I want to make sure that my words are not misrepresented and nor would I want to misrepresent you or anyone else should I choose to publish correspondence.”) disinterest me and, in the latter case, are very unappealing.

In your email to me — Subject: Thoughts on “The “Guruless Disciple” — you Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance day talk.”

11/10/18

What follows below are excerpts of transcripts compiled by Sriman Paramananda dasa (UK). In these excerpts Srila Sridhara Maharaja speaks with affection about His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada on the day of his disappearance, 1982. Prabhu Paramananda sent the transcripts to me a few days ago with the suggestion we post them for the satisfaction of our Divine Masters and others whose hearts will surely be touched by the reading of these holy pastimes. I hope to announce the posting of the full transcripts in the near future along with many others we recently received.

Srila Giri Maharaja “Choosing a Guru”

Date: 11/2/18

Dear Sriman Nila Madhava dasa,

Dandavats.

I think you know what I mean. For example, [of] late one recent non-ISKCON acharya has admitted to sexual misconduct with a female disciple. Is the misconduct to be ignored? Chalked up to ‘api cet su duracaro’? Is he to be disregarded?

(I assume “sexual misconduct” and “misconduct” are terms used to soften and minimize the actual term that should be applied to the conduct. That term is: “illicit sex.”)

He should be completely disregarded. I would run away from him; fast and far.

It is most unfortunate you feel you have to ask these questions. It is unfortunate for two reasons. One; you have been reading Srila Prabhupada’s books for several (if not many) years and associating with his apparent devotees and Read More...
