Sri Krishna Janmastami Announcements

During the week leading up to Janmastami, Bimalananda dasa biked around town, preaching and handing out invitation flyers to local businesses, announcing our upcoming Sri Krishna Janmastami festival.

Prabhu Bimalananda was overwhelmed by the positive reception to his requests to place the flyers in the store windows of almost every business he approached.

He returned to the Math empty handed, having distributed every single flyer we printed.

Janmastami Celebration

Then, on Janmastami day, we had the morning program, and Giridharijiu was adorned with a garland.

After the morning program, the devotees prepared a wonderful feast for Krishna, including; steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, salad, rice, sweet rice, puris and, no doubt, other preparations beyond my memory. Srimati Lila Sundari devi dasi also Read More...

“It’s good you are asking…”

The email below came in response to a question by one of my disciples regarding association. It is my prayer that all my disciples give careful attention to its contents by following the directives therein, while always remembering Sriman Mahaprabhu’s instruction “trnad api sunicena...

Date: October 10, 2012

Dear Srimati Jadurani devi dasi,

Please accept my blessings and well–wishes.

I remembered the conversation that we had about ISKON and how you mentioned you were still friends, I think with a former editor, or maybe the present one, of Back to Godhead. I figured I was just going to the temple to get something from their store and it wasn’t like I was going there to receive any kind of instruction or anything so that it was probably okay. Anyways, Read More...

Jaya Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharvika Giridharijiu Ki Jaya!

All Glories to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga!

On His 528th Divine Appearance Day, Lord Sri Krishna Chaitanya graced His aspiring devotees at Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, New Jersey with an extra dose of devotional service.

The Lord’s Appearance Day Festivities began with aroti of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharvika Giridhari. As the program progressed past our usual sankirtan compilation, we began chanting the special bhajans of the day: “Prema Dhama Deva Stotram” and “Sri Sikshastakam”, along with the recitation of the English translations, with the hope of pleasing our worshipful Lord Gauranga.

After the morning program, it was time to prepare and offer opulent meals for the pleasure of Sri Sri Guru Read More...

Some thoughts on cults.

Dear readers,

Please welcome Sriman Bimalananda Dasa to our Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math Blog.

He was only recently initiated but is very enthusiastic to serve Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandhavika Giridhari. I very much enjoyed his first article, presented below, both for its style and content, and expect you will also be satisfied with  it.

I pray you will all offer your blessings upon him to proceed nicely in his search for Sri Krishna, offering him your encouragement, association and affection.

In service to the Lord’s devotees,

Swami B.K. Giri

What follows is a rant on my reaction to those many individuals who call us a “cult” in the derogative sense.

So, a little something I would like to vent.

It appears that many people (westerners in particular) accuse Read More...

This is the new e-mail address of Bimalananda das, formally Benjamin, a.k.a. Coe.

Today (Friday, 8 February 2013) I was initiatied into the line of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and His mission to spread Krishna Consciousness throughout the world by His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaj Prabhupad,
Acharya of the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, and my instructing spiritual master.

He has graciously taken me under the shelter of his lotus feet, bestowed me with a devotional name, and given me a purpose when previously I had none. He is my saviour and my master, the distributor of Krishna’s Mercy, and the only hope I have, and for all the rest of my days I shall serve him with Read More...

Confronting Distractions on the Journey to Devotion

By Jadurani devi dasi

“The brhad visnu smrti clearly states….’…People jeer at Krisna…Perpetually, their real knowledge will remain under delusion, and gradually they will regress to the darkest region of creation.’ ”

~ Srila Prabhupada, Bhagavad Gita As It Is, Purport 9.12

As I read that this morning I was struck with the sheer gravity that defines one’s spiritual journey. True understanding into the transcendental nature of things is certainly not a game or to be taken lightly but to be pursued earnestly and with a seeking heart that is genuine in its goal. The goal shouldn’t only be to accumulate knowledge or to experience pleasant feelings but to acquire truth that will orient us into the clearest and most direct Read More...

Simply Surrender

From the journal of: Srimati Jadurani devi dasi

“We have to approach the domain of knowledge with self-surrender, honest inquiry, and a serving attitude. We have to approach that plane with the mentality of slavery. Higher knowledge will not serve a person of lower status. If we want perfect knowledge at all, we will have to serve the Supreme Lord. He will use us for His own purpose; not that we will use Him. We may be subjects in this mundane world, but we will have to become objects to be handled by the superknowledge of that plane. If we want to connect with that higher knowledge, we must approach with this attitude.”~ The Search for Sri Krsna, p. 28-9

It hasn’t even been a week and I am already having conflicting thoughts over my role as a devotee. The pursuit for the Read More...
