Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Or, does coincidence play a larger role in our lives than we might expect?
Following up on a Facebook notification I read Srimati Kundalata Devi dasi’s Fb post of “extracts” of two transcripts on Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance day. We posted the same transcripts. I wrote the following intro to our website post which was emailed to Prabhu Uddharan to post on our website on November 10, 2018 at 4:06 PM, two hours before Kundalata Devi’s post:
I have received your last two emails and noted the contents.
Overall your questions that bore the appearance of sincerity interested me until you muddied the waters by proclaiming they are, in some sense, rhetorical (“In one sense my question to you was rhetorical.”). On the other hand, your “thoughts” (Thoughts on “The “Guruless Disciple”), opinions and manipulative tactics (“I want to make sure that my words are not misrepresented and nor would I want to misrepresent you or anyone else should… Read More... “Srila Giri Maharaja – “My Interest/Disinterest””
What follows below are excerpts of transcripts compiled by Sriman Paramananda dasa (UK). In these excerpts Srila Sridhara Maharaja speaks with affection about His Divine Grace Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada on the day of his disappearance, 1982. Prabhu Paramananda sent the transcripts to me a few days ago with the suggestion we post them for the satisfaction of our Divine Masters and others whose hearts will surely be touched by the reading of these holy pastimes. I hope to announce the posting of the full transcripts in the near future along with many others we recently received.… Read More... “Srila Giri Maharaja – “Srila Prabhupada’s disappearance day talk.””
I think you know what I mean. For example, [of] late one recent non-ISKCON acharya has admitted to sexual misconduct with a female disciple. Is the misconduct to be ignored? Chalked up to ‘api cet su duracaro’? Is he to be disregarded?
(I assume “sexual misconduct” and “misconduct” are terms used to soften and minimize the actual term that should be applied to the conduct. That term is: “illicit sex.”)
He should be completely disregarded. I would run away from him; fast and far.
If Sri Guru were not like us, we could not develop a relationship with him. If he were not different from us there would be no need for such a relationship. To think the likeness means there is no difference is to invite tragedy.
Please accept my regards and well wishes in remembrance of my Divine Masters.
Please let me know if it is possible to approach a Vaishnav through you?
This is not a question I can answer for you. The answer is dependent upon your faith.
I have accepted three great gurus as my initiating and principal instructing spiritual masters. My initiating guru is Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. My principal instructing spiritual masters are Srila B.R. Sridhara Maharaja and Srila B.S. Govinda Maharaja. The latter, Srila Govinda Maharaja has ordered me to give initiation… Read More... “Srila Giri Maharaja – “Vaishnava … you can approach directly.””
Devotee: So Mahārāja, exactly what offence did Choṭa Haridāsa perform?
Śrīla Śrīdhara Mahārāja: We should take it as Mahāprabhu by His own person is teaching it to the public. He was not actually so; but he was made to play the part of such a person. That the, and outwardly that was given serious objection, that in the name of Mahāprabhu he went to beg something from the lady. Mahāprabhu did not like that.
This is to warn us that a particular plea, or under the plea of preaching or something we should not try to satisfy our carnal desire which is within our heart. Outwardly I’m going to meet a person, as if… Read More... “Srila Giri Maharaja – “[Y]our duty should be to give him shelter… “”
Please accept my humble dandavat pranamas in remembrance of our Divine Masters.
Several weeks ago I leaned Sripada Trivikrama Maharaja had left his sannyasa. I wrote to him about this and soon afterwards he kindly called me to explain what had happened. At that time I explained it is not so much of a difficulty for a devotee.
I am reading everything you send me although not immediately as I am now spending many hours driving the motorways of GB.
Your emails are like rays of light from Vaikuntha & I am beginning to understand why Srila Gurudeva was very happy with your preaching style.
I am fortunate indeed that you care to give me your devotional association.
