(Sripada Trivikrama Maharaja, back row, left)
Dear Srila Giri Maharaj, please accept my dandavat pranams.
All glories to Srila Gurudeva and His sucessor President Sevait Acharya Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj.
Here I’m answering those few questions you made in your letter. Lines belonging to your letter will be in Bold.
[bkg] In pursuance of your phone call yesterday, and the ensuing conversation, I have a few questions.
One of the last things you mentioned was to the effect, as I remember it, that you want to continue to support Acharya Maharaja’s Indian Maths, take your disciples there and keep some sort of ongoing relationship with those Maths. Will you kindly tell me why you feel these things are important to you?
— This is very simple to explain why I want to support Srila Acharya Maharaj. This is Srila Gurudeva’s desire, as much as I understand His “Last Will and Testament”. No necessity to explain or to quote here, everybody have access to the will, can read and conclude, but still I’m posting here those main paragraphs that makes the diference in the will.
Quotes from Gurudeva’s testament
— Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj shall succeed me as President Sevaite Acharya of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, including Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math and Mission, Sree Chaitanya Saraswata Krishnanushilana Sangha and all other Maths mentioned herein. From this point on these aforementioned Maths as a group shall be referred to as “Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math et al”. [i.e. the Indian Mission]
— Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj, the aforesaid nominated President of the said Primary Trust Board, will manage all affairs of all the Maths and Temples and give initiations as the Acharya of this Math and Sangha. Regarding this it is my last desire and direction to all my loyal disciples, male and female, of Western and Eastern countries and to the devoted associates under my shelter, that all of them will obey the President Acharya Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj, remain faithful to him and continue to render assistance in the Seva affairs of Sri Math. If anyone fails to honour this direction of mine and does not abide by my last desire, then he will be com- pelled to leave this Math, all other Maths and the Mission. It is the direction of Srila Guru Ma- haraj that only those who will be loyal to the Sevaite Acharya of the Math and will act accord- ingly will be members of the Math. Those who would cause disturbance to the Math and the Mission obstructing the Seva work done by the Acharya must be expelled from all Maths and their premises.
— I hereby direct all to assist Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj with love and affection. I find that Sriman Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj is competent to become the next Sevaite Acharya after me. I have my good wishes, affection and love for Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj, and it is my last desire that each of the devotees and disciples from the Math and Mis- sion will cooperate with him, as he has been rendering service to the Math untiringly, being com- pletely loyal to me, and is always acting for the well-being of the Math. And this is my order and last desire.
— Now, I find Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj has an outstanding personality and unparalleled devotion. I find that everyone is following him but not all with affection, which is not proper. Everyone should cooperate with affection. However, it is a good sign that the devotees from abroad have affection and love for Sriman Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj.
— Any person who will be unable to accept this direction of mine declaring Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj as the next Acharya of this Math will have to leave this Math and not disturb the peace of the Math. This is not only my desire but also the desire of Srila Guru Maharaj. If my desire and the desire of Srila Guru Maharaj are respected, then this Mission will run smoothly.
[bkg] You said you agreed with me on most points, that you made mistakes and hope to correct them and so on. One of the mistakes (my words) was to initially establish Sripada Acharya Maharaja as the acharya of your Math in Brazil, even though Srila Govinda Maharaja said it was you who should be the acharya there. In opposing that idea I told some of the acharyas, perhaps you were one, that it will be easy to place Acharya Maharaja’s photo in the parampara on your altars, it will be very difficult to remove it.
— Yes, I agree with you in some points. That was wrong to promote Srila Acharya Maharaj as the only Acharya, but it’s one error that is already corrected, at least in Brazil, but also not accepting him as in a central and more important position, in my humble opinion, is wrong. The fact that Srila Acharya Maharaj is in a central position in SCSMath does not diminish my position as Acharya or the position of any Acharya. Gurudeva’s entire will (in my understanding) shows Srila Acharya Maharaj in a central position and I feel it’s my affectionate duty to serve him, as in Mahaprabhu’s times, all the Acharyas followed Srila Rupa Goswami as the main Acharya. That’s why we call our Guru Varga as Rupanuga Guru Varga. The main problem is when everybody wants to be at a central position or main position, and that’s technically called prathista.
[bkg] Fully aware of the significance in doing so, I believe you installed BNA’s photo on your altar after that of Srila Govinda Maharaja. Is that correct?
— Yes, that’s correct.
[bkg] From what I heard, you later added your photo after his. Is that correct?
— Yes, that’s correct too.
[bkg] What is the current arrangement? Is BNA’s photo still present in your parampara? If so, where is your photo in relation to his?
— The first picture in the left is mine, then Srila Acharya Maharaj, then Srila Gurudeva, Srila Sridhara Maharaj, and so on.
I have no objection for you to use my letter for public view, as soon as you post it with its full content.
With my humble and affectionate dandavat pranams.
