Sri Chaitanya sets the standard for acharyas and “all actual devotees.”

Sri Chaitanya-Charitamrta, Antya 2.172

sri-rupa-raghunatha-pade yara asa
caitanya-caritamrta kahe krsnadasa

Praying at the lotus feet of Sri Rupa and Sri Raghunatha, always desiring their mercy, I, Krsnadasa, narrate Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, following in their footsteps.

Instructions from this Chapter

Summarizing this chapter, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura says that one should derive from it the following lessons. (1) Although Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is an incarnation of mercy, He nevertheless gave up the company of one of His personal associates, namely Junior Haridasa, for if He had not done so, pseudo devotees would have taken advantage of Junior Haridasa’s fault by using it as an excuse to live as devotees and at the same time have illicit sexual connections. Such activities Read More...

Dandavats Sriman Gokulananda Prabhu,

I’ve still only seen the distorted picture and title. (And I was excommunicated for saying that my seeing the IAB reminded me of a group of clowns. A statement I immediately removed.)

Oh well, “No justice, no peace.” Or is it, “No peace, no justice.”?

I am looking for peace with no justice. To be comfortable in the knowledge that justice can never give peace. Peace only comes when we have fully accepted Krishna as our protector.

I’m glad I decided not to use the picture distortion technique. It seems cheap and trite to me. It is easy enough to fall into cheap and trite, using words alone.

“The opinion of Srila Govinda Maharaja is not supreme.”?

This morning I was re-reading an email sent to me by a reader commenting on my article “To Err is Human …”

His eloquently stated opinions are worthy of reconsideration.

At the time, his comments were predominantly supportive of my positions on matters that continue to shout for our attention.

Now the email he wrote to me is almost two years old. I realize he may see things differently now. He may no longer be so inclined to support my opinions; or he may. I do not know.

What he has written may also be read by some who will conclude it is one more piece of evidence that I am an “acharya” possessed of some harmful misconceptions in need of an immediate exorcism.

One of his statements I find to be particularly intriguing and, transposing it into a question, have offered it Read More...

“I must prove I am good.”

I am thinking “I am fallen soul. I am conditioned soul. Everything you can say, about me, and I shall accept it.” But now accepting is very difficulty. Now accepting I am very bad, I cannot say. And then all Mission will be massacre, and I cannot say [that] now. I must prove I am good.

Sripada Avadhuta Maharaja recently wrote to me about “Acharya-abhiman”. What Srila Govinda Maharaja is saying above is one example of acharya-abhiman, the inspired side of a vaishnava.

It is not the nature of a Vaishnava to promote himself, defend himself or attempt to convince others of his “goodness.” But Srila Govinda Maharaja crossed over this standard behavior in order to serve Srila Sridhara Maharaja. He recognized that his service required him to step outside Read More...

Open letter to Sriman Brajeshwara dasa.

Dear Sriman Brajeshwara,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Master.

Do not write to me if you do not want a response. I told you this some time ago. This tactic the GBC tried to use with Srila Sridhara Maharaja. He did not appreciate it, and I do not appreciate it.

He told them “I am not lacking in reason or experience, or knowledge of the shastra, but you must present your points when I can reply to them.” (paraphrasing) “If I do not reply then you will think Maharaja is incapable of a response. I don’t like that.”

The last time you wrote to me on this subject I asked you to call me and I would explain my understanding of Srila Gurudeva’s Will, which I think will answer any of your doubts or questions. But, like the GBC who never Read More...

“What is Crystal Springs?”

Sriman Brajeshwara of the San Francisco Bay area just sent me a message asking this question, “What is Crystal Springs?”

I suspect it is a question many devotees unfamiliar with BSG’s history are also asking.

Rather than delve into the matter anew, I offer this excerpt taken from my article, written more than two and a half years ago, titled “The Pied Piper of San Jose”

Therein you will find the following brief description of —

BSG’s Crystal Springs

As Srila Govinda Maharaja once commented (paraphrasing),

“He was very clever, he got Guru Maharaja to sign the paper.” [Granting publishing rights to Goswami Maharaja, which he later sold.]

Goswami Maharaja had a temple filled with devotees enlivened to serve under his direction and a loyal congregation offering their time and money to help Read More...

“A Vaishnava Sees Krishna Everywhere” – An Email About Illusion, Puffery & Dog Worship

BKG St. Pete

Srila Giri Maharaja’s Response to Original Email:

Dear Sriman >>>><<<< Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I wish you and your good wife and family a happy new year as well.

Srila Govinda Maharaja liked to remember the prospect for the new year and I often called him on New Year’s day to wish him a happy new year. He liked that.

Then, what about Your Grace? The greatest antagonist of San Jose piper?

Prabhu, if that’s what you think, you have misunderstood everything to the greatest degree I can imagine.

I am to BSG what BSG said I am, his “ontological spotter.” That’s it, period. I’m trying to keep him honest, and trying to keep him from hurting others by leading them astray from the teachings and instructions Read More...

Who’s the Dog on the Leash?

Dear Sripadas Janardana Maharaja and Ashrama Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I know Goswami Maharaja is your man and for that you had to eliminate me from your sanga. But really, is this why you left ISKCON to join Srila Sridhara Maharaja, Srila Govinda Maharaja and Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math; to support the creation of Crystal Springs, Chiang Mai, or wherever Crystal Springs 2.0 will be located?

Or, are you both creating your own Crystal Springs, following the Great Leader?

And at that time he told that when Bon Maharaja came back, for the first time from England, with (sulls? and a baron?), two German gentlemen. Then he left his danda and his sikha, and English dress, he came here. We asked him: “Why you are in such way, where is the sikha, where is the danda Read More...
