BKG folded hands

From: B.K. Giri

Email Dated: December 29, 2012

Dear Sriman Dayalu Dulal,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

It is very kind of you to write to me addressing the issues you mention in your email.

My first thought while reading it was, “Devotees are so beautiful, humble, thoughtful and kind.” You did nothing to offend me, yet you were still concerned that you might have. That is a very rare quality in this world and you are blessed to possess it.

Srila Govinda Maharaja was speaking one time about our Srila Prabhupada and glorifying him for his humility. Although his Godbrothers abused him and mistreated him constantly, Srila Prabhupada always tolerated it without making any objection. Not only that, he always tried to help them with their preaching, collecting and other programs, Read More...

Ukraine Protests

My dandavats Prabhu Uddharan.

There is a lot of disturbance in Kiev presently so maybe this has some negative affect on the devotees?

They should not be affected to any substantial degree.

Usually these things are very localized; city hall, government buildings, etc. Agitators collect around government symbols to show their opposition. We have a president whose only real work history was creating such agitation, so we have some experience in viewing how these things are done.

We are witnesses, onlookers, to these events but we have little to do with them.

I suggested the devotees in Kiev do Hari Nama Sankirtana where these protests are occurring. We can also use symbols. The symbolism of government Read More...

The Full 1969 Letter of Srila Swami Maharaja to Srila Sridhara Maharaja

ssm_spp1973

That Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj continually regarded Sridhar Maharaj as his advisor throughout his life is clear in the following letter written by him to one of Srila Sridhar Maharaj’s disciples, Sripad Govinda Maharaj. Concerned about his failing health, he had written Sridhar Maharaj asking whether he should continue living in the United States or return to India to live his last days in Vrindavan. After receiving Srila Sridhar Maharaj’s reply, he wrote: “What Sripad Sridhar Maharaj has directed, I take it on my head. He is my always well-wisher. After the departure of Prabhupad it is appropriate that I should accept his direction. I got direction from him that I shall live in this country forever.”

Abandoning One’s Guru

Screen Shot 2013-12-05 at 6.59.38 AM

Dear __________,

Please accept my blessings and well-wishes in remembrance of my Divine Master.

It is difficult for me to correspond using Facebook. Please email me with any questions you have via — [email protected]

Briefly, in response to you message, I can say I am a little unhappy to hear you felt the need to search for another guru so soon after taking initiation.

To leave one’s guru is a drastic measure.

Before requesting initiation one should carefully examine the prospective guru. Likewise, the guru will examine the prospective disciple.

Selecting one’s guru should be done with the expectation of serving under his direction for the rest of this life.

Of course we are not perfect and it may happen, in rare instances, that we make a regrettable choice.

I don’t Read More...

In all, nearly thirty years of sewing, I never received such a beautiful description before.

Now, I have re-read it and am very happy that you are all happy

On the worship of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharvika Giridharijiu & Tulasi Maharani

SCSMG Deities 2

Srimati Lilavati Devi dasi asks Srila Giri Maharaj questions concerning the worship of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharvika Giridharijiu and Srimati Tulasi Maharani.

Dear Sripad Giri Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

The skirt, shawl and seat are done.

The measurements for Tulasi pot at 7 inches high and circumference 27.5 inches, are they still valid?

Also, Is a small turban a good idea?

The fabric for Srila Gurudeva’s chair may take longer to find. Looking for some nice cloth with a saffron colour base.

Aiming to get this outfit in the post this Thursday/Friday on fast delivery.

Your aspiring servant,

Lilavati DD

Dear Srimati Lilavati Devi,

Please accept my humble obeisances.I apologize for not responding sooner but almost every waking moment has been spent on setting up our own web server. There was a lot or research and many, many details to sort out to see if it was feasible, and then begin setting it up.

The skirt, shawl and seat are done.

“An Astonishing Story”

BVS Centenary Stamp

It’s an astonishing story. If someone told you a story like this, you would not believe it. Here is this person, he’s seventy years old, he’s going to a country where he has no money, he has no contacts. He has none of the things you would say that make for success. He’s going to recruit people not on any systematic basis, but just picking up whomever he comes across and he’s going to give them responsibility for organising a world-wide movement. You’d say “what kind of program is that?” (Hopkins, 1983:127)

In honor of the centenary anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s appearance, India issued the stamps pictured below. A description of the stamp reads “Birth centenary of Bhaktivedanta Swami, Philosopher.”

[Lalita-astakm, Srila Rupa Goswami]

The softness of Lalita Devi also, is so much in the heart. Even if a very unqualified and ignorant person wants to serve Radha Govinda, Lalita Devi gives that chance to them also. She’s so merciful, more merciful than Radharani. And when she’s accepting someone, Radharani is happily accepting her service. Then our only hope, in the line of Rupa Goswami, is the satisfaction of Lalita Devi.”
