“belittling”, “laughing away” and “ridiculing”

After Srila Govinda Maharaja’s disappearance, his Last Will and Testament was submitted to a court to be probated or “proved” valid. Sripada Paramahamsa Maharaja and his supporters immediately petitioned the court to find the Will invalid, although they certainly knew Srila Gurudeva’s desire was that Sripada Acharya Maharaja would succeed him as the Acharya and Sevaite (principle administrator) of the “Indian Group” of devotees and Maths:

Sripad Bhakti Nirmal Acharyya Maharaj shall succeed me as President Sevaite Acharya of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math…

Evidence was presented to bewilder the court, hoping it would believe Srila Govinda Maharaja’s Last Will and Testament, in its written form, was a hoax and did not represent his true desires Read More...

My incapacity.

Dear Srimati Lilavati Devi and Sriman Uddharan Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances to you both.

Since opening the package you sent that arrived yesterday, and seeing the contents, followed by the notice of your donation, I have been searching for a way of describing my wonder at the kindness the two of you have bestowed upon my humble self. Suddenly it just came to me, “overwhelmed.”

I know whatever comes to me is all for the glorification of our gurus. Yet many of these things come with my name attached to them, so I feel I must try to respond.

But what can I say? All my words seem but a shadow of my feelings of appreciation. You have both done so much to help me with my service to our Sri Sri Guru Gauranga and I can do nothing for you. But if I have any connection with Them, Read More...

Some thoughts on cults.

Dear readers,

Please welcome Sriman Bimalananda Dasa to our Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math Blog.

He was only recently initiated but is very enthusiastic to serve Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandhavika Giridhari. I very much enjoyed his first article, presented below, both for its style and content, and expect you will also be satisfied with  it.

I pray you will all offer your blessings upon him to proceed nicely in his search for Sri Krishna, offering him your encouragement, association and affection.

In service to the Lord’s devotees,

Swami B.K. Giri

What follows is a rant on my reaction to those many individuals who call us a “cult” in the derogative sense.

So, a little something I would like to vent.

It appears that many people (westerners in particular) accuse Read More...

A humble and sincere request, respectfully declined.

Dear Sriman Gaura Das,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I called you last year from London, Ontario, Canada, and we spoke over the phone a bit.

Thank you for reminding me. When I read of your experience in Canada I wondered if you might be the devotee I spoke to last year from Canada. As I recall, you ran out of time on your phone and would soon be incommunicado, with no internet connection due to not having a phone line at your new residence. However, you said you would contact me again when you got internet access. I suppose you now have an internet connection and have taken the time to kindly contact me at this time, although for a different purpose.

Prabhu, I will carefully consider your very humble, gracious and kind request of me to submit an offering for your Vyasa Puja book of Read More...

Crossroads… which authority to follow?

Dear _________,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Masters.

I am praying to Sri Nityananda Prabhu for guidance and on which course to take. I am on the crossroads of my life. I am praying for His mercy so that whatever  action I will take is thru His mercy.

Of course. “Nityananda Prabhu is the general representation of guru” and His help may be sought, especially by those who do not yet have a guru. For them he will be the guide. But He has mercifully given you your own guru who is much closer and so affectionate to you that if any difficulty comes, he will immediately act to help you. He will protect you even when Krishna cannot, or will not.

Disciple must think, “My guru is the supreme.” And, there, in the [parampara], my guru’s guru. My father is my father. It is very easy thing to understand. My grandfather may be a king. But, my father is my father. He’s my father.

My relationship with my father is very close. But blood Read More...

Service. To whom?

“…if one professes faith in Srila Sridhara Maharaja but not Srila Govinda Maharaja, his faith is flawed.”

It is the natural function of the jiva to serve God. It is less instinctive to believe our highest function is to serve the servitors of Godhead. More mysterious still is the higher value derived from serving the servant of the servant, of the servitors of Sri Krishna.

The following email, presented to a friend of mine, offers some discussion on these points.

Dear _______________,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I was very happy to read your kind response, especially where you wrote “Our relationship has always had the service of Sri Sri Guru-Gauranga at the center.”

I am trying to proceed in that way with many “fits Read More...
