To One of My Affectionate Mothers

Dear Srimati xxxxxxxxxx devi,

Please accept my humble regards.

Let’s not play anymore like teacher and student. You are not my teacher.

Thank you. Finally you have understood the first point. I am not your teacher, I am your friend.

You are no one’s student. Therefore you do not learn, nor want to learn. Those who want to learn seek a teacher who is knowledgeable in the subject they want to study.

As your friend, there is no need for me to try and prove any authenticity about anything, except that I am your friend.

As your friend I can see that you are suffering from anxiety caused by an interest to know something that can only be learned from a spiritual guru. I understand Read More...

“One Day Before” – A Christmas Reflection

Way back when (in 1999) Srila Giri Maharaja wrote the lines below as an offering to Srila Govinda Maharaja on his appearance day which was on December 24th (the day before Christmas). In the offering, the comparison between the day of Srila Govinda Maharaja’s appearance and the Christmas celebration (which is observed the following day) is not only ingenious, but quite profound in its meaning. We should all reflect upon the ocean of difference a single day can represent in a spiritual aspirant’s destination.

What a difference a day can make,
a turn, or a fork in the road we take.
To seek the truth or speculate
quite a difference a day can make.

Religious conceptions to explore,

Doesn’t Everyone Love a Good Comic Book?

by Swami B.K. Giri

My dear Prabhu Subal Vilasa:

There are three types of pramanas or proofs by which a thing can be known. These three are pratyaksha, anumana and shabda. Pratyaksha can be divided into two types, direct experience of a thing as perceived by the senses, or by the jivatma. Anumana is proof derived through reason, by either inductive or deductive processes. Shabda is that which comes by hearing from authorities.

While anumana is not infallible, it was enough for Mahaprabhu to understand the Sanodiya brahmana to have a relationship (that of disciple) with Srila Madhavendra Puri.

When I see the disposition in one to interpret Gurudeva’s Will, rather than accept it’s direct meaning, and use the interpretation to subvert the clearly stated meaning, Read More...

Read More...

It Depends on The Meaning of “THE”

BKG St. Pete

by Swami B.K. Giri

Prabhu Subal Vilasa,

Deviation from Srila Gurudeva’s Will began in Navadwipa on April 7, 2010 at the first meeting of the International Acharya Board. It was at this meeting that Sripada Goswami Maharaja insisted all the acharyas “defer” to Sripada Acharya Maharaja.

Thus began the first of many deviations. They all followed BSG’s direction, instead of Gurudeva’s direction. All that is, except me. I followed the direction of Gurudeva’s Will to “be the Acharya of New York…” Many of you severely criticized me for doing so.

BSG knew deferral was a deviation as proved below where he instructs me in the use of the word “the” as in “I want to see Sripad Avadhut Maharaj as “the” Acharya in Russia.” (Gurudeva’s LW&T)

The deviation,

Read More...

Dear Sriman Gokulananda Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Master.

I thought I would take a moment to highlight a remarkable difference between the treatment of Sripada Janardana Maharaja in Soquel that you found so distasteful and the situation here.

In Soquel BPJ had to wait in line to be served prasadam, but as the line advanced he was eventually served.

Here I just wait, taunted by the empty bowl sitting in front of me, that is also waiting, apparently for me to take it to the kitchen and wash.

Perhaps you’ll be comforted to know that after eleven hours of waiting, I finally did what one must do in such situations, I heated up some of the prasadam that was distributed to everyone Read More...
