Dear Srimati ____________ Devi,
Please accept my well-wishes in remembrance of our Divine Master.
It is very unhappy for me to hear you no longer visit SCS Math in Russia. I think there are many like you, which is one reason for my visit.
Since Srila Gurudeva’s disappearance the leaders began to follow a different idea than the one instructed by Srila Govinda Maharaja. This has led to many disappointments for myself and many others.
I do not know all the reasons for your decision to stay away from SCSM, but I can say that Sripada Avadhuta Maharaja has done many wrong things and continues to do so. During the time of Srila Govinda Maharaja, devotees serving under the direction of Avadhuta Maharaja could know that all the problems would be corrected directly by Srila Gurudeva.
Now Avadhuta Maharaja’s activities are no longer controlled by Srila Govinda Maharaja. Avadhuta Maharaja is acting independently, ignoring some of Srila Gurudeva’s most vital directions.
I know you want to follow Srila Govinda Maharaja as your guru, but it must be confusing for you to decide what is best for you to do. You are not alone. Many of Srila Govinda Maharaja’s disciples are facing the same difficulties.
It is most unfortunate that you have to go outside your guru’s Mission, to ISKCON, to feel Krishna’s protection. It is the grace of Srila Prabhupada, Bhaktivedanta Swami that this facility is available to you. He considered Srlla Govinda Maharaja to be more dear to him than his own sons. Now, indirectly, he is looking after you, one of Srila Govinda Maharaja’s dear spiritual daughters. I am very grateful to know this and happy to learn that Srila Prabhupada’s disciples and followers are encouraging you in your spiritual life.
You may know Srila Govinda Maharaja appointed me as one of his successor acharyas. As such, I feel a responsibility to serve all his devotees. No one should be neglected.
Whoever feels secure serving under the direction of Sripada Avadhuta Maharaja should do so. But if anyone feels they cannot do that, or should not do that, we must try our best to encourage them to continue their devotional lives with full faith in His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Sundara Govinda-deva Goswami Maharaja. That is the main purpose of my visit to Ukraine and Russia.
The scriptures tell us:
yasya deve para bhaktir
yatha deve tatha gurau
tasyaite kathita hy arthah
“Only unto those great souls who have implicit faith in both the Lord and the spiritual master, are all the imports of the Vedic knowledge revealed.”
You have faith in Krishna, and in His Holy Name. It is just as vital that you have firm faith in your spiritual master, who gave the Holy Name to you. I don’t doubt that you have this faith, but it never hurts to be reminded of this point.
In any event, you should know, and believe, that Srila Govinda Maharaja is always with you. He is looking after you and he is seeing your sincere desire to serve Sri Sri Guru and Krishna.
I am looking forward to seeing you again during my visit.
I pray this finds you well in health and spirits.
Swami B.K. Giri
