Sri Krishna Janmastami 2013

Sri Krishna Janmastami Announcements

During the week leading up to Janmastami, Bimalananda dasa biked around town, preaching and handing out invitation flyers to local businesses, announcing our upcoming Sri Krishna Janmastami festival.

Prabhu Bimalananda was overwhelmed by the positive reception to his requests to place the flyers in the store windows of almost every business he approached.

Janmastami Celebration

Then, on Janmastami day, we had the morning program, and Giridharijiu was adorned with a garland.

After the morning program, the devotees prepared a wonderful feast for Krishna, including; steamed vegetables, baked potatoes, salad, rice, sweet rice, puris and, no doubt, other preparations beyond my memory. Srimati Lila Sundari devi dasi also made a chocolate cake, pictured below, in honor of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja’s Avirbhava Mahotsava.

After a long day of service, we continued into the night as we celebrated our Lord Sri Krishna’s divine appearance day. His Divine Grace, Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja spoke beautifully, and at length, about the glories and significance of Sri Krishna’s transcendental appearance.

After a bhoga offering, we sang and danced in a happy mood during the beautiful aroti of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Gandharvika Giridharijiu.

We then broke our fast just after one o’clock in the morning, taking wonderful Krishna prasada and then some much needed rest to prepare the the following day’s celebration of Sri Nandotsava and the appearance day celebration of Shaktyavesha Avatara Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, Prabhupada.
